What’s your purpose?

What’s your purpose?

Why are you here? Why are you in business?

A lot of people just want to make money and of course, the essence of starting a business is to make a profit but if we want to build a great brand, we have to exist for a good cause or at least, attach a good cause to our existence.

Why? Human beings connect on an emotional level. As mentioned in an earlier post, a brand is people’s impression of something. If we want to connect with people on an emotional level, we have to create businesses that resonate with their values and beliefs.

A current trending cause is a green environment – cleaner, safer world for us and generations unborn to live in; one which Tesla is currently riding on and achieving great success with.

If we want to build a great brand, we must exist for a good cause or support one. We have to genuinely do what we do because we want to help people improve their lives.

For example, Nike’s purpose is

“To bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete* in the world.” “If you have a body, you are an athlete.”

We can say Nike’s reason for existing is to help athletes feel better, do more and achieve more. Everything they do clearly communicates that.

Our purpose for existing at Yox Novero is to help people’s ideas become established brands by being there every step of the process. We do not want to dump only certain aspects of your need on you and leave you to figure out everything else on your own or by experimenting with various other options.

What is your purpose for existing? Define your business around a good cause.

PS: Whatever good cause we choose to support, we must make sure it is genuine. We cannot claim to be for a green environment while spilling oil into the lagoon. People will see through the fallacy.
