What is a business profile?

A business profile is a document that is an overview of your business and the business plan. It should provide readers with a quick overview of your business, including your values and objectives, so they can get an immediate feel for what you’re doing and where you’re going.

-Wikibooks

Simply put, a business profile is a quick look at a company.  The information about the company should be included in the corporate business profile because it speaks volumes to investors, service providers, business partners, and job applicants.

How can you write your business profile to standout effectively?

  • Keep it simple:

Just like a résumé, you should write each business profile with a purpose in mind. Avoid complicated information and irrelevancies. Ideally, it should not be more than five pages.

  • Be honest:

Be honest in detailing information about the business because if anything proves out to be wrong or fake in your profile, the image may have tampered.

  • Give a brief history of your business:

The evolution, founders, vision & how the company grew its operations as well as the customer base. Achievements & partnerships should not be left out too.

  • Outline your mission statement:

A mission statement is a summary of your goal as regards to your business. How do you want your business to be in two or thirty years from the present?  For Example: ‘The mission of The Walt Disney Company is, to be one of the world’s leading producers and providers of entertainment and information.

  • Mention why your company is best:

Don’t be afraid to talk about your strengths. Focus on your unique qualities as it best solves your target audience’s problems.

  • Include your contact information:

Your contact information makes your business more accessible and reachable. Be sure to include your address, telephone number, and email at the top of the document.

  • Add a Call to Action (CTA):

A call to action will help to encourage people who are motivated by your profile to take the right action business-wise. This could be something along the lines of: ‘To find out more, visit our website” or “For further information, call +XXX XXX’

  • Proofread it:

Finally, it’s vital to proofread your corporate profile to ensure there aren’t any mistakes or errors in the information.
